Hair Direct Warehouse is Even BIGGER!

Hey Everyone! A couple of posts ago I wrote about how busy our warehouse is. Our shipping department has really become overcrowded in the past few months due to our expansive growth. It's been a problem as we countinually add more hair replacement products to our online store. (Left: Empty shelves after the moving guys came in and cleared them for packing. This is the far-end of our current one-room warehouse.)

Our current warehouse has refused to let us countinue our growth (apparently, it's walls only allow so much shelving). So we decided to pack up and move to another location just down the road.

The movers were really great as they came right in and packed everything in their truck safely and securely. Those guys really now how to move! They were from Davcon Relocation Services. I hope I didn't bother them too much while I took pictures of them working.

We had a bunch of boxes to move int to the new place and rob and Sharon, our warehouse movers and shakers worked their rumps off getting everything organized and in place.

The New Place...

This is the back room of our new warehouse. It'll be a great place for us to grow into! Right now it's a place for storage and holding stock that hasn't made it to the selves yet.

This is the main "picking and packing" area. It'll be where the products you order will originate and tidily be placed in cozy brown boxes with love! While it's about the same width as the old warehouse, as you can see it's much longer than the old place.

This will allow more room for the Rob and Sharon to "stage" packages ready to be placed on the shipping truck out of town.

At the end of the day Rob, Sharon, and Rich (from accounting) were still going strong trying to get ready for the next days shipping. They had a lot of boxes full of shampoos, conditioners, hairpiece tapes, and glues and adhesives to put on the shelves.

So, if you're expeirincing a bit of delay in the next couple of days, just remember that we are working hard to get your orders out and to you in a jiffy. I can't wait till I can post that this warehouse is now too small. I'm sure it won't be that far off!

Boy, Are Weeeee Busy!

I'm not sure if it's the holidays, our latest product offer, or just the fact that we keep growing by leaps and bounds, but the shipping department is moving at break-neck speed today to get all of our customer's orders out and on time. They barely let me in the warehouse... The camera was just about a death wish walking in there. LOL!

They were very gracious with me however and let me document these shots. The first shot is Rob - Sharon is in the second. These two are the movers and shakers in the warehouse. If you order a product; they pull it, dust it, wrap it with love and bubble wrap, sing it a song, then give it a gentle push as it begins it's journey to it's doorway (which should be yours).

And today is no different... even with the hustle and bustle, they will still find the time to be extra sure your orders are accurate and at your door in a jiffy.

Thanks Rob and Sharon. Also, Thanks to Jana who processes orders and makes sure the warehouse has what it needs to get the job done! She's just as busy!

Bosses Day!

Today is Bosses Day and boy, did we surprise our bosses! When we called them in to the break room and they didn't see anyone at their desks on the way there they thought they might have a coup on their hands.

Far from it. In fact one of the great things here is the culture and atmosphere that "the bosses" have allowed to happen. I have worked at jobs where the main thing people do all day is complain about working. While all of us have had a bad day every now and again, this is generally a pretty fun place to work.

This might be a reason some of our hair replacement customers have left voicemail praise for our customer service. Though I'm not an expert, I'm sure a great environment makes it easier to give better customer service and keep friendlier attitudes.

Thanks Bosses for allowing Hair Direct to be a great place to work!

Goodbye and Good Luck!

Yesterday one of our Hair Techs, Mel, wrapped up her employment with us. She left on good terms and is pursuing a career in medical assisting at a dermatologist which she has professional training in. She will be starting at Dermasurgery Center in Lancaster, PA on Monday.

Mel did not work with customers directly but instead did a majority of the cleaning, cutting-in, and repairing hair systems. She will be missed as a valuable member of our team.

As always, we threw a small party.

Good luck Mel! All the best in your new endeavors.
Good Luck Mel!

As always, Nikki divides the goodies

Bill Sr say a few words of thanks.

New Editions to the Hair Direct Family

Hi Friends,

As you may have already read in the previous post by Bruno we've hired 3 great new hair techs. We are very thrilled to have them here and they are already making themselves at home here. Hair Direct makes it pretty easy to feel like you belong as soon as you walk in the door.

These ladies offer a lot of talent and come from diversified backgrounds.

Camille has 36 years working in a salon and not only does hair but is certified as an electrolysis technician! She even owned her own shop for several years.

Margaret has 5 years experience in a salon and also has some with marketing. She has a cool hairstyle to boot!

Krystle has 4 years experience in a salon and also at one time got to work at one of my very favorite places to shop... QVC - sweet! Of course they are all wonderful girls and you should be seeing much more of them.

Till next time! -Nikki

Hair Direct Pizza Party

Left to Right: Hair Tech Lisa with one of our new techs, Krystle!
Our marketing chieftain Brandon, was hoping to get pizza in peace. He wasn't successful.
Bill Jr grabbed a slice and quickly got back to his meeting with Su and Ma.

In honor of our guests this week Hair Direct bought the staff pizza! Pizza varieties abounded and I'm sure everyone was filled and fulfilled. We got the pizza from our favorite pizza place, Little Italy, down the street. Like always, when Hair Direct buys us food we are happy, and within 10-20 minutes, someone is usually moaning, "Why did I eat so much pizza?" But who that may be is a secret I'll keep to myself. I value my health.

Speaking of health. Our hair techs are multiplying. We've added three new hair techs but I don't want to get carried away. Tomorrow Nikki will be blogging to introduce these lovely ladies to you. I'll just let you know that they come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Tune in tomorrow and learn more. Thanks!

Factory Reps Visiting Hair Direct

Su, pictured left, is our factory liaison. Ma, on right,
owns the factory that produces your hair units!

Today some of our factory reps from China came to Bainbridge, PA to our office. Both play essential roles in ensuring that your hair systems are made precisely, accurately and on-time.

As you might know all of our hair systems are manufactured in China (like most of the hair systems worn in America and abroad) so it's important that we actually meet face-to-face every now and again. Bill Sr, Bill Jr and Brandon, our marketing guy, made the trip to China to see the operation and meet with the factory workers in February.

A few months ago Su came to see us and work out HOP program issues and how it will effect her and the factory. Today and the rest of the week Su and Ma will be discussing quality control, turn-around issues, new hairstyles, our plans to introduce full cap systems for women, broadening our African-American/Ebony hair systems offerings.

In fact, as I write this the hair replacement techs are meeting with Su and Ma discussing issues that they have had as they deal with you as customers each and every day.

As you can imagine dealing with a factory in another country and culture can be quite a challenge. But you can rest assured that we are and will always be commited to working hard for your hair... so you don't have to! :)

Thanks Su & Ma!

Talkin' shop with Bill Webcast!

Well last night Bill had his first webcast! He did a pretty swell job too seeing as he self-proclaims he's technologically-challenged. He had Brandon and others from the marketing department to help him out with all the computer stuff.

We had participating guests from China, Brazil, England and all over the United States. At the peak of the evening we had around 35 guests and they came prepared with all kind of questions for Bill. We had so many questions in fact that I noticed several of our Hair Replacement Technicians chimed in on the chat board to help them out.

Some of the questions and topics covered:

One of our before/after photo clients had and interesting question regarding Bill's succession plan if and when he retires... he said nothing around here will change. Which is nice because we really like it here.

We also had surveys running through out the webcast which answered many question such as how easy it was to access the webcast. Most said it was a breeze. What time of day was the best? The evening as it turns out, but we'll also be experimenting with other times as well. What is most important in a hair system. Over 72% said appearance.

We plan on doing more webcasts in the future but as of now have no exact date. Check back though because I'll be sure to let you know a date and time. Leave a comment if you have any particular subject or issue you would like covered. I'll pass it on to the rest of the marketing dept.

Like Bill says in his Hair Replacement Blog, "Have a Good Hair Day!"

New Man at Hairdirect!

Yesterday we added eight very cool looking products from New Man to our store. Though I haven't heard anything good or bad about the products themselves they certainly look very cool. These products are, for the most part, designed especially for hair wearers. Breifly, the products we added are:
Oh and I did notice that the prices are pretty reasonable! Check them out and let your Hair Tech know what you think of them - we always like to know what clients think of the products we sell. Have a great weekend everybody!

Female African American Styles at Hair Direct

A project that I've recently been heading up here (and loving) at the Hair Direct offices are scanning and organizing a brand new batch of female African American hairstyles.

It's always important that we are up-to-date with modern styles. Of course I doubt that once we have a style we would ever take it down. We just add more and more!

These styles were handpicked by Bill Sr. after he visited a hair show in Atlanta, Georgia. In the photo above you'll see 30 of the over 100 new hairstyles we should have up within the next week. This will bring our hairstyle gallery to well over 200 female hairstyle options for you to choose from.

If you happen to be more interested in full cap hairstyles for men, we have plenty to choose from as well.

Happy Birthday Mary!

Every time one of us here at Hair Direct turns a year older we always have a company sponsered Birthday Bash! It's really never a surprise... though we act like it is.

Yesterday was Mary's Birthday! She turned... Ahhh, ouch, ohhh, ehhh, thud! She just slapped me across the back of the head and made me swear to not tell everyone! Not really but if she were behind me she might slap the back of the head. Your secret is safe with us Mary.

I took a few pictures (which was difficult because Mary hates modeling for the camera). The party was a bit scarse due to the fact that sometimes techs just can't get away from their desks, vacations, accounting is going through software updates, etc.

But your welcome to join the party by viewing the images below!

Surprise!

Mary only took one breath to blow out the candles.

As usual, Nikki is in charge of serving.

I just want a "small" slice, Nikki.

The pies were great! They came from Country Table Resturant in Mt. Joy. The ice cream is from Kreiders! They were a fantastic combo!
